Here is a memento from the Jefferson Airplane, Byrds, and BB King concert at Indiana University on May 17th, 1970.
It was a great concert.
We drove over an hour to get there, and when we got there we found out there were no tickets available even though it was outside.
We looked around and assessed the situation, and saw a fence that could probably be jumped over…..
I’m not going to say how we got in, but it was a great concert and we stood about 50 ft back from the stage.

I was at that concert also I was a sophomore at the time. It was a fantastic concert great weather.. Anybody know if Clarence White was playing guitar that day with the birds?
Yes — Clarence was there. The Byrds lineup that day was Roger McGuinn, Skip Battin, Clarence White, Gene Parsons; the most stable and longest-lived of any Byrds line-up. Epic day — the double rainbow during Richie Havens’ set was astounding.
I was a 20 yr old student at IU and was at the concert. May 1970 was a tumultuous month. Remember Kent State and the huge protest at Dunn Meadow.
Yep I was there we sat on the field about 50 feet from the stage
Yes! I remember being at that concert & seeing/hearing Jefferson Airplane/Grace Slick & BB King, but not so much the Birds. Great time! I was a senior at IU about to graduate. I remember before that seeing the Association in Concert. All really good. Attended many happenings & protests on campus & in Dunn Meadow. Loved IU then and now!
