I have no idea how I missed this show. That lineup is unreal. Start time of 5pm how great is that. I don’t recall meeting anybody over the years that was at this show. The 76 Christmas concert was great as well. I made that one and will talk about it going forward.
I was at this one – mainly to see RUSH. The ‘Christmas Concert’ always had more bands than usual, thus the EARLY START.
Blue Oyster Cult was the headliner and RUSH was #2. I don’t even remember UNCLE TED or FRAMPTON being there. It may have been before Frampton’s big ‘FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE’ album made him a big name. There was even a big LOCAL band that kicked things off. I believe it may have been ‘ROADMASTER’ (with lead man ‘Adam Smasher’).
For some reason, BOC came out BEFORE RUSH. I never got the reason for the switch – I always assumed a ‘flat tire’ or some logistic problem.
Anyway, BOC played for a long time (as expected) and by the time RUSH got on stage, the crowd was pretty burned-out. Rush didn’t play long, which disappointed me, and I remember they didn’t sound great, either. (maybe related to the ‘switch’).
I never did find out why RUSH and CULT switched places.
I believe this was my first Christmas concert, I remembered the outlaws but everything else was a haze, I was really loaded
