I went with my big brother Bob. While Rare Earth was playing, the crowd was on it’s feet and up near the stage. The cops didn’t like that and when we wouldn’t sit down, they pulled the plug on the equipment and turned on the lights. Everyone started stomping their feet and my brother got me out of there when it looked like it might get ugly. What an adventure! I was 13.

This was one of my first concerts. For some reason, they cut the power to the stage and turned up the house lights, but the band kept playing! Fans rushed the stage and cops appeared from everywhere. It was a melee with some fans getting arrested and others getting pushed off the stage. Eventually things settled down and Rare Earth played another song or two.

As a young (maybe 13?) concert attendee, I thought that was how ALL concerts ended. I couldn’t wait for the next one, which I think was Grand Funk.
