I saw this show when I was 14 yrs old. It was truly something I could never forget. Fabulous show.
ZZ Top performed that day with a level of intensity that has been true to their nature over the years. Their professionalism and showmanship was perfect. No one I talked to at the show had ever heard of them. They were just some band from Texas.
At that time Melody Skateland time was a broken down dump and had been revived for concerts and heaven only knows what else. I do remember that it was so hot that day I almost passed out during the show. But the heat didn’t phase the band. They played that day as if they were in front of 25,000 people. And not long thereafter, that is exactly what they were doing. And the rest is history.
