    Wabash students were admitted free.

Jim, that is right. We made a deal with the Student Council that for an investment in the concert, all students would be given a ticket.

What night back stage with Jonny winter jamed with my friend will never forget humble pie was outstanding

I was there along with my friends. This was an event they called Ralph’s Mother, locally. They had held at least one other event in another year previously As I recall.
It was incredible that they got such big names to come to Crawfordsville at that time. Emerson Lake and Palmer were great and so was Johnny Winter. I don’t really remember Humble Pie that much because I wasn’t really into them. But I’m sure they played well too.

Possibly the most amazing concert I ever attended — and I attended my share. I was not a Wabash student but was a Humble Pie fan. Went to enjoy them but was astounded by Keith Emerson’s synthesizer filling up that space with sound I had never heard before. All three acts were well-received but ELP knocked me out. My thanks and admiration to everyone who made this unforgettable night happen.

Was that a Pan-hel event or Ralph’s Mother or ?

It was my first and probably my best concert ever!

What a fantastic, mind-blowing night! Four of us from Purdue’s Cary Quad (dorm) drove down and saw both shows, on the invite of the girl one of us was dating. Who knew Wabash College could pull together such fine musicians? Thanks, for helping us end our freshman year with a bang!

I was a student at Wabash then. My friends and I gave our free tickets away to other friends, but were still able to get into the concert anyway. Eventually all the doors were left open to hear music outside too. Probably two or three times number of people attended than ticket holders. Years later I still hear from people that were there.

Drove over from C-U where I was a senior at U of I. In 1971. What a great show and night. The Johnny Winter And Live LP is pretty much the exact show performance given that night. Derringer stoned and brilliant. Marriott was a wild man with HP and did Live at the Fillmore LP. ELP were as freaky as you’d expect. Outlandish percussion. Best show of my life!

I was there for the 10.00 show. Still the best show I’ve ever been to. Who ever stole the orange juice truck saved alot of people that night.

I was at the 10:00 show – absolutely the greatest concert I ever attended. I really had no idea who Humble Pie or Emerson, Lake & Palmer were ahead of time. I actually thought the latter were an acoustic folk trio, kind of like Crosby, Stills & Nash, since “Lucky Man” was the only song of theirs I’d heard – imagine my surprise when they opened with “The Barbarian” and blew the roof off the gym.. And Humble Pie with Marriott & Frampton were great – I have definite memories of Marriott’s overpowering vocals and Frampton’s leads. Johnny Winter’s closing set, unfortunately, was cut short due to curfew.
